papajo, didn't balance it, but the clutch travel is a lot less now, being that the pressure plate face is now further away from the backing plate, so it has the same symptoms as the push rod being shortened, so in conclusion, the clutch doesn't release, so I modified the shoe pushing the release bearing to kick in earlier by changing the angle, still no clutch, so I put the original lever and shoe back in and tensioned the cable ALOT, but still no clutch....

anyone that has done a dual diaphragm had to do any other mods?

the clutch is also very noisy, probably had to tack the diaphragms together coz I can hear them squeaking... but my main concern now is getting g the clutch to disengage :bang: :bang: :bang:

I so badly wanted to do Zwartkops tomorrow :(

ok I think I've figured it out, the thickness of both diaphragms, when on top of each other, must be the same thickness of only one
so the bottom one's outer diameter must be reduced to so it fits inside of the top one and not increase the height...

ps. you need fuggin massive leg muscles to step on the clutch now.... don't think it's worth it on a daily.... unless I cut out some of the clutch fingers to make it a little less stiff

Correct ob wan. The thickness have to be the sameas the single one. Not worth it for a daily. If it was a hydro clutch setup, it may gave been not that hard on your leg. Cable and thrust bearing will not last and also the part where it pulls through the firewall.

If going for double diapraghm, it is recommended to increase to a maximum of 50% over stock.

Ah. Sorry, that was my bad.

But as for the stiffness, you princesses need to harden up. I drove mine (two of them) daily like that for years.

Ok the one was hydraulic, but still.

had the double diaphragm on a cable clutch.

its does not feel that hard when you are driving it.

But later you start to wonder why you have knee pains!!!

anyhow, put the std pressure plate back in with an almost new std clutch plate (thanks Rinus) and all is well now, had to decrease the boost a bit to keep from slipping, 0.5bar to be exact, but it will have to do for now.... :-( no more making clouds for my little one....

next year i'll focus on cable shifting the k@k out of that little golf....

You will also pretty much have to pull over and wait until traffic clears if you find yourself in a traffic jam. It's a biatch with a copper clutch.

Why so many welds? Seen guys cutting and joining with only one cut behind the injectors. Are there any tricks inside the plenum?

couldn't find any pipe matching the ports so I had to cut a round tube in half and insert a 10mm piece so that it fits snug to the flange, so it's smooth on the inside

no tricks yet, busy researching on flow inside a turbo manifold, plenum size and runner length, then i'll have it all machined and build a lekker one

I never had luck with solid centre clutch plates. Always tore the centre section out.
