Local reviews - MK7 GTI IS38 upgrade

Post by AshTDi »

After coming across many overseas reviews online on the is38 upgrade. I think it would be a great idea to share our own, seeing as our fuel quality isn't so good here etc. What do you love/hate about it, pros and cons. This topic may even sway decisions into or out of doing the upgrade. The floor is yours

As far as i have seen IS38 is the best thing since K04. Pump fuel the Revo Stage 3 guys are way over 300whp. I can't see any negatives except for the replacement of front tyres more regularly

Is38 is the new k04, epic conversion. Only downfall is it requires a flash, no pnp supports it at the moment. I know with the g6 it was the same but the whole td1 thing makes me nervous.

Very impressive! What kind of airflow do they get in grams/sec?

Do they suffer from similar turbo failures that the stock G7 GTi turbo does?

IS38 (G7R & S3) and IS20 (G7) both suffer from turbo failures, more so the earlier revisions

Damn, that is sick power. So no fueling or cooling mods? Meth?

Sorry for all the questions, currently have dp and intake and really considering doing the IS38 next instead of going full bolt ons.

That is epic. With cooling mods and meth/octane you will see even better figures.
