How do i check if my turbo is ko3 or ko3s

Howzit guys,

I have a quick question...

How do I check if my turbo is a ko3 or ko3s? I'm just curious as I found out about a few more mods within a year of ownership.

My online digging has come across this:
ko3 has a dual, 4 blade design and ko3s has a dual, 6 blade design,
numbers on turbos are as follows:
ko3: 5304 101 5160
ko3s: 5304 101 5066, are these correct?

POLO Gti came out with K03s.

MK4 GTI had K03.

K03s has a big silencer on the outlet part which looks like this.

K03 just has a straight pipe without the silencer part.

Doesn't matter. Just throw out that hair dryer and fit a man sized turbo on it ffs

Now that you mention it, I was pricing the atp eliminator kit lastnight and faaaaark.
The exchange rate suck balls.

Looks like I'll stick to a ko4 setup.

I have a k04 hybrid, billet compressor wheel & Rs6 exhaust wheel for sale, along with Manifold, oil lines and water lines as well as TIP

Look up Miggs at FSU Developments. He's currently putting a Garret BT kit together for the 20v. If I recall its a GT2871R. I stand for correction, but it was something like that.

So with ko4, apart from all the items mentioned, I would need injectors, maf and a new dp? And possibly go 76mm exh as well?

K04 is a waste IMO. A decent k03 hybrid will make as nuch power as a k04 023 on a stock manifold. A k04 hybrid with a upgraded manifold would be nice but then thats BT money.

Don't go bigger turbo if you don't want to have continuous issues.

I was advised to go ko3s Hybrid, I want decent, reliable power, nothing fancy.

Its so simple too. Only thing you would need is a high flow manifold at most and s3 injectors. No fuss. No worries. Reliability and a good jump in HP. Look at bevo. He is rocking 217kw with his Franken which is by far one of the strongest ones around. Car is daily driven too.

Interesting, what kind of power was it making?

I see prawn on ASN makes a reliable 370bhp on 1.4bar :crazy: given that he has done rods and a few other things to handle the power.

Wes showed a 12kw jump from his hardware changes which was done on the same dyno. Thats what's important
