Re: Cam and chip on a citirox 1.4i
Get your head flowed and port-matched - for me it made the same performance difference as a 268 cam and remap. Now imagine having the benefits of a decent head flow and port job, AND a cam and remap. Happy times.

Re: Cam and chip on a citirox 1.4i
This debate of mods on a 1.4i citi has always been around. I never done it to mine, just the exhaust and branch and I was happy.
A good point that always gets made is that the total cost of these minor upgrades should be compared to the cost of fitting a stock 2liter motor.
There's a big difference in power gains between the 2. Do a search for 2 liter conversions on the forum. These tons of information about it here as well as okes that have done it.
Thought I would through that spanner in there.

Re: Cam and chip on a citirox 1.4i
Just put in a 276 estas cam and don't even remap it, the standard computer box will read the cam and compensate accordingly. Unichip is waste of time imo . You rather put a 2.0 computer box instead of the unichip. On the Intake side u can install the short 2.0 throttle body, and you can do an airbox mod. You can't expect a lot of power gain from a 1.4 but any small mod you do can be felt on these cars

Re: Cam and chip on a citirox 1.4i
Some of these suggestions scare me.
If you want to keep the original engine, put in the 272 cam and get some place to install the uniQ chip and tune it as well. It's a waste of money imo, but then again almost all modding is a waste of money and time. The biggest bonus is the cammed sound to be honest.

Re: Cam and chip on a citirox 1.4i
I'm with the guys that recommend the transplant. There ain't no replacement for displacement. Spending money on the 1.4 is a waste of time as it hasn't proven itself as a good base for decent power gains. I followed a build of a guy who turboed his 1.4 Velocity. The moment he got it all working the motor threw a rod and broke. He's dropped in a 2.0l and got done with it.

Do you even know wtf you are talking about?
Also, while fitting a 2.0 is a great bang for buck option, fitting a 268 + uniq to a 1.4i that already has a branch & exhaust, with a proper tune can gain anywhere from 12-15kw.

Re: Cam and chip on a citirox 1.4i
Some may call me an idiot, but I took my 2.0 out and re-fitted the lively 1.4i motor as I enjoyed the rev-happy nature of the engine and it was more in line with what I wanted out of the car. A worked 1.4i may not be the fastest etc, but to me that didn't matter, the 1.4i 8v motor is a little gem of a thing because it's almost square.

I'd say if you have a 1.6, just keep it in and work it.

What would be the ideal exhaust size to use? Iv heard of 50mil and I have heard from others whom say 48mil is correct? Also should this be the size from the front to back or is the size differant at any section?
