Re: Shorter Sump for Citi Golf
Negative, unless finding an import which is near impossible, SHAUN investigated this IIRC for his Jet.Wheelwore wrote:Has anyone tried this..to avoid damaging the sump on static cars
Rather lift the motor higher in the bay with some custom mounts.

Re: Shorter Sump for Citi Golf
Stick with the steel sump, they can handle more abuse than an aluminium sump.

Shorter Sump for Citi Golf
Just dont have the car so damn low
That will require a lot more than just the sump. Lifting the engine is limited. You have already pushed your side shafts closer to the chassis legs. But if you come up with a solution please let us know.

Re: Shorter Sump for Citi Golf
Stock engine and gearbox mounts are off center, toward the top of the bushes. Have custom polyurethane ones made that are closer to the bottom and you should lift about 25mm. Leave the rear mount alone and the drive shaft won't lift very much. The front stabiliser will need some modding to make it fit, but it has lots of movement so it shouldn't take much to get right.

Re: Shorter Sump for Citi Golf
Won't Andre's rubber in CPT be able to help you bud? I know I've read on the forum he makes all sorts of different shore hardness mounts for people, surely he'll be able to help make a custom mount for you?Wheelwore wrote:thanks..custom polyurethane -- who can make this

he sells a poly kit for the mk1 for like R700
and you can send in exsiting mounts for him to fill.
best thing I would suggest is get two mounts, send them to Andre have him move the pilot holes for the bolts far down as possible and fill with the poly.
Missioner had suggested this, I am just adding to it

Re: Shorter Sump for Citi Golf
If you are handy enough you can buy the poly as a 2-pack resin and cast your own mounts, using the original metal parts.
