Dying spark plugs
so after replacing my lambda sensor on golf 4 1.6. fuel consumption, idling, jumping revs, performance all is sorted, also vcds error does not come up.
now my issues is this, this happened before i changed lambda sensor and is it still happening. i still get oil fuming smells from car, there is also this rich kind of smell coming from engine, and every morning or at least when ever i start the car from a cold temp alot of black in the form of vapor spits out of the exhaust.
now the issue with my spark plugs, its usually starts from 2 weeks onward when car will miss a bit here and there and eventually car will sound like spark issues and sound sick, no power etc, until i remove the spark plugs to check them then there is some burnt oil on them. usually happens on the 2nd the 3rd cylinder now and then on the 1st cylinder. the coil on the 4th cylinder always has a bit of corrosion on but i clean that up with electric contact spray cleaner to burn away the corrosion.
the car is using oil have to throw in a pint every month. i haven't done a oil change yet i doubt its going to make any difference but if it does I will do it.
Now i had my car checked out by my mechanic and he said the oil rings are finished and it would be best to do the engine over since I am already opening the engine.
the car is not smoking at all out the exhaust and even front he dipstick or when removing the oil cap.
can this be the oil rings going and pushing up oil making the plugs wet?

Spark plugs is dying due to over fueling @ start up, maybe replace your temp sensor.
Also do a comprsession test on all cylinders it might give you an idication as to which cylinders is low on pressure.

Jup also had issues with dying plugs with those multi points. I now run normal single point ngk plugs and they not dying like the mutli points used to do

ok guys just to give an update. i bought the temp sensor yesterday at Goldwagen. they first gave me some unknown brand but the plug part was green and half round with 4 pins but short pins. immediately noticed the sensor was incorrect as the plug from the car is a square plug with levers on both sides.
before leaving goldwagen returned it to them. they searched on their database but could not find the correct sensor for my engine. strange as I bought one from them i think 3 years ago. Anyway VW Kenilworth was just up the road decided to get a printout from VW with the part no. and return with that to Goldwagen. VW's quote was R521 i might be a few rands out. When I came at GW their kind of looked puzzled as if that specific sensor was incorrect. I left GW with the part priced at R107 fitted it last night. Havent gotten any rich petrol smells yet but I know its a bit too early to tell. so will drive car for a while and report back again.
