AUDI 80 Cabriolet Restored

Post by N3mo »

Owner recently bought this car and it seems he been taken for a ride, when he picked up the car everything seemed fine then couple days after the glue and cable ties that was holding the car together began to come loose. The car had spent plenty of time at a garage getting fixed and the owner was loosing hope in it. It was just sucking in money.

The body was in a poor state, he had taken it to some body shops and they all said that nothing could be done and a respray was needed. The Paint looked like its been through serious abuse, there were deep swirls, plenty of scratches, the bonnet had been painted using single stage paint while the rest of the car was base coat /clear coat. The Wheels were badly caked up with brake dust, the interior was full of dust and grease, the leather had taken serious abuse from the top being down and almost felt like cardboard. It was just badly abused. It screamed out for help.

The owner asked if we could do anything to bring back a lil shine and make it more presentable than what it was, I instantly agreed to take this on as I the car needed to be restored and saved. I picked the car up in the morning and the owner just said do what i can to help it out even if it just gives it some shine, I doubt he knew what he was going to get a show car at the end of the day.

The car was washed thoroughly inside and out, the paint was given a full correction and waxed. The Leather was cleaned and gorged with conditioner which really softened it up and gave it a much better feel, couple more treatments and the leather will be good as new.

We dropped the car off that afternoon and the owner was standing outside hes shop, I dont think he expected hes car to finish of like a show car, he couldnt stop thanking me and you could see that he fell in love again with it, he couldnt stop smiling and walking around the car and asked me several times where is the car i drove out with this morning. All in all we saved it from a paint job and gave the paint a new breath of life. I really enjoyed this one as it was more of a challenge for me to save this car and give it life.
