The only Petroport in Durban centralish is the Nandi Drive two.

The alcoholics might object to the unavailability of dop at the garage (there's always boot jol)
Parking wise there is plenty space.

Umgeni road engen is also awesome with plenty places to chow

Bwahahahhahahaha.
Petroport automatically becomes "generalized" as a illegal street racing gathering especially on a thursday night.

Yeah. Any venue that is perceived to be a gathering spot for street racers is a no no. It is impossible to argue that a bunch of modded cars are not involved in the illegal activities.

Personally I'm +1 on the garage meet idea. Suggest the garage by autostyle?
Hooters on the other hand is gonna have my missus asking which headlights I'm going to look at?!! The jetta is big but I cant sleep in it!! So +1000 for the garage visit

Agreed. Which is a big part of the problem. Cops generalise that modded cars = racers.

The other problem is the alcohol. If guys were willing to forego booze then it might well be possible to negotiate with a place like Gateway for the occasional hook-up in their carpark away from other patrons.

Personally I would rather go where illegal racers gather than be surrounded by a bunch of boozers driving home around me. Not that I'm saying people here drink and drive, but u know what I mean.

 Says the guy with the 300+kw car. I know what you saying. I have been stopped by Metro at Engen, and they looked very dissappointed when I willingly opened my bonnet.

Umgeni, Petroport and Total Gateway are all "known" street racing/car hookup venues.

I think Wes was suggesting somewhere off that beaten track..

Gets a bit mundane.

Get something rad going.. make a meet up at a cool garage (away from the hot spots) with good facilities (mug and bean, steers, wild bean etc) and you will get a good vibe going.
It may also encourage the folk who don't drink to get involved.
Can hang out talk **** (and car ****, cause thats why we there in the first place) and carry on

If the guys can meet at hooters, im sure a few extra kms, to westbrook beach shouldnt be a problem, pleanty of parking, nice lighting, should also make for some awesome photos, a line of vdubz with the night beach as a back drop.

No where near any of the SPOTS, so shouldnt be a problem with the law officials.

And undercover carpark photoshoot! Sounds good.

Thursday is sometimes the reason I don't make it as well. I work weird hours so when I finish at 8 or 9 pm I just wanna go home and crash. Fridays may be a better alternative? I don't mind weekends but that's because I don't have a family to worry about .

there are no facilities there.

Total Gateway is 100% safe and we won't get labeled there.

Blue Lagoon parking lot is always quiet on week day evenings.
North beach, parking lot next to the flea market area.
The beach on the other side of suncoast, heading toward Lugz, can't remembr the name now...has a nice parking lot.
Wilsons wharf parking lot.
Also the parking across The Stables flea market is a good place.

I remember Rob arranged a photoshoot in a building in morningside once, that was epic and was a weekday evening which turned out crazy.

I am all for a garage meet. I have not been to a meet in such along time for two reasons. First I dont drink and drive, and being at bar surrounded by drunks when you sober is kak (talking about other patrons, I like Rob when hes drunk  ), and will encourage me to drink and secondly I stay in ballito so not prepared to drive a round trip of almost 80km to go to a bar when I am not drinking... Thats like going to a porn store and asking where the Barney dvd's are!!!

I am all for a garage meet with some seating and take away spots etc.

Part of me finds this really funny.... we started off with garage meet and greets - everyone complained it was boring so we changed to the venues currently in use, and now everyone is complaining that it is boring and they want garage meet and greets.

Trying to keep you lot happy is a full time job :moon:

The rest of the committee and I have started discussing this in some detail last night and I am sure we will be able to provide you, our members, with some alternate venues for meet and greets.

We will be communicating the proposed changes shortly, however in the meantime we will appreciate your input as to possible locations, so keep them coming.
