2 things i would like to know. How come i see two different tipes of covers on the engines?
ONE states " VR6 - 2.8" AND the other " VR6- D.O.H.C" ?????? Is there a difference????? Is it just different in year or size too or what is the story? Honestly. All pics i've seen up untill now shows the " 2.8" Where my Jetta shows on the cover D.O.H.C. ( I know what it stands for) Just want to know why is it different. Mine is a very late (November 95 model)
The other thing! Looking for a "phat" lip for the front like the VR6 one but you don't get one for the jetta. What do you do? I've seen a couple of jetta's driving with these ones so i'll keep on looking! Is it maybe that the first lot of jetta 3's came out with a thicker lip??? Cause the ones that i do see is mostly the moddel with the squere flicker in the fender where mine's oval......?
please can someone answer any of the questions???
Question for VR6 people that know....

Hi
Not an expert, but engines are the same. All VR6 engines have Double Over Head Camshafts, i.e. the DOHC logo, due to the narrow degree "V" angle of the two banks of cylinders. This actually means they have one camshaft per bank. Also, the displacement will be the same for the two engines you have mentioned with these covers.

The angle is much more narrow than 35 degrees.Marco G wrote:Hi

It has to be the model of the vehicle that determines the cover. I had a 1998 Golf VR6 with 2.8 on it. A mate of mine had a 95 golf VR6 and his had DOHC.
As for the thick lip at the bottom. Its called 2 piece Bonrath spoiler. However the 2 piece can only fit on the Golf bumper as the jetta bumper is longer on either side. There is a Single piece spoiler that fits on the Jetta. Looks exactly the same and fits perfectly.
I have no idea where to get them from....
Try Goldwagen or Autostyle.

I agree with VOORAONVIAGRA. It is just different year models that were labeled differently. but the motors were slightly different internally as well.
Earlier models have duel chains and the later models have a single chain.
As well as slightly different fuel injection systems, and brakes.
As for the spoiler i cannot be of help there as i have the Golf..
