Exhaust box removal?

Post by Stompie »

Hi guys,

so i want the polo to be a little louder...not brakpan loud but just have a more growl...dont really worry for increase in powa...

if i have the middle box removed and a straight piece fitted, would it be too loud and just for interest sake, would their be any gains? but mainly just want more growl as its quite soft.

i had this on my pug first time around i did the FF.

Was way to loud and raspy, after getting the middle box added i realised how much torque i had lost with the 1 box system.

Wont affect performance but will likely drone if you remove center box. If you really itchy then replace the rear box with a free flow one. 57mm will be fine

Like I said wild guess. Powerflow Edenvale... Full system around R1200. Heard a PGTi with one, sounded nice not too sure on performance.

i dont know if technically its true or false but both my mate in his OPC and i had the same system 1 box system done at prima force the same day and we both said the car felt flat compared to when the 2nd box was added.

Theoretically forced induction cars don't need backpressure at all...

But I would opt for a 2 box system with max 63mm on a small turbo engined cars and 76mm for a K04 also with 2 boxes...

Removing silencers just brings in drone and useless noise. The key to power is at the downpipe side! Getting the gasses out quicker. :type:

Full exhausts make a difference on K04 cars but not really on the K03s... That's why most of the K03 boys just fit Downpipes. And that already adds to the growl! :hurray:

On a turbo car you will only loose power if they replaced the box with a small diameter pipe.
No silencer will ever add power.

Just put 76mm exhaust, mandrel bent exhaust. Turbo cars do not need back pressure. The turbo also help dampen the sound of the engine believe it or not

And is the biggest source of backpressure anyway

hey bud :hi:

im running this system at the setup .... i only have my rear back box in place.

it only really howls after 3500rpm at Full WOT. Apart from that you won't even know the middle box is gone.

I drive down to durban regurarly and i have no problems with droning :hurray:

As for the performance aspect, you'll probably gain 2-5 hp and a few torques.

in all honesty, its a cheap mod, that will make you fall in love with the car all over again.

I''ll record some vids for ya 2mrw , fly-by's etc  :driving:
