18inch rims on a polo?
hi guys,
just a question? this question more for the guys that currently have 18"s on their polos.
how is the polo with 18inch rims?
does the bigger rim effect power?
are the tyres alot more expensive that 17"?
how is the ride compared to a 17" with the same tire of 205/40/17 but just 18"?
will the bigger rim fill a bit more of the arch gap?
there is a possibility i might swop another forum member for VS XS reps in gold narrow and wides in very good condition.
thanks

Will look awesome, lowest profile on an 18 is 215/35, which will basically be the same as the 205/40/17
Also, check the offset and width if it will physically fit.

No comment...PoloGTIman wrote:how is the polo with 18inch rims?
They will no doubt be heavier which will affect acceleration somewhat...PoloGTIman wrote:does the bigger rim effect power?
I would imagine so...PoloGTIman wrote:are the tyres alot more expensive that 17"?
Will be harder as you have to run a lower profile tyre to get the same or similar rolling circumference...PoloGTIman wrote:how is the ride compared to a 17" with the same tire of 205/40/17 but just 18"?
No but there will be more wheel and less tyre...PoloGTIman wrote:will the bigger rim fill a bit more of the arch gap?

Also tyres are not just a little more expensive. After buying 4 decent/quality brand tyres you looking at +-R2000 increase in price. 17's are also easy to find at most tyre shops wereas 18's are much more difficult.
All depends on what you prefer though. I really like the look of 18's but couldn't see myself spending R6000 on 4 tyres. I currently have 16's on my car, which are also really expensive (R5800 for 4 Bridgestone MY01) but that will change really soon to 17's.
