1.8t Flatspot

Post by DES7 »

:hi:
Going to get the polo gti logged later today.

Scenario: If I am driving at 120 for a while, then I try to accelerate > the car does not accelerate even if I press the pedal flat. Boost gauge reads 0.1
When I let go the pedal completely and accelerate again immediately it accelerates fine.

Car details:
07 Polo GTi, Stage 2.
Problem arised after I changed cambelt + blank off plate and delete + fitment of boost gauge.
Thought it was the lambda's but I changed those and problem still there.
Throttle body was also faulty and changed that > possibility it got damaged as a result of an underlying issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar?
I am thinking it has something to do with the routing of air or a control valve is faulty.

Will keep posted on progress.

That's a wierd one bud, log throttle angle and accelerator position while driving and see. It could be that the tb has an issue.
Does the sound of the motor change at all when your foot is flat?

Not much change in sound dude(revs stay the same, boost at 0.1, speed stays the same), it feels as if I am exerting pressure somewhere when the pedal is flat - trying not do that.
Maybe I have not noticed the change in sound
I have also been advised that it could be a grounding issue on the lambda? I haven't a smoking clue...

Ok well log it and see if it simply not the trottle opening or if the motor is doing something funny that prents it from making more power. but if you can feel something strange then its probably the motor.

Is the lambda still throwing a code?

Update - car was scanned yesterday by Yosh.

Error codes around the heating circuit for Lambda's and also the lambda's show as open circuits.
These error codes were evident even before I replaced the lambda's.

Now, I need to test the voltages between lambda's and further(cabling after lambda?) then can figure exactly where the problem lies.
Is it within the lambda, the heating circuit or all the way in the ECU.

Shoot > I miss my car!

Try cleaning out the MAF, best way to know if it is the MAF is to unplug it and drive,
If the car drive's fine with it unplugged, then there's your problem.

I was just thinking this!

Now it is process of elimination.

Yup generally the errors for heating circuit "malfunction/ open circuit" will lead you to first physically check if they are plugged in to eliminate the most obvious reason for open circuit. Yours were definately plugged in, thus the next logical step was to assume lambda malfunction...Replaced and DTC still present so the next logical step (as confirmed by Mr G60 :hurray: ) is to check the voltages of the actual heating circuit in the lambda and the respective voltages all the way to the ECU...

Your DTC has absolutely nothing to do with MAF...
