Thoughts on Syndicate Intakes for G5 GTI???

Post by Donnie Darko »

I have an opportunity to buy a syndicate racing intake for a good price. It looks identical to the Evoms.
What makes for a good intake?

Pics of intake:

Quoted from their website:

"I have 2 new intakes which will be up soon with some dyno figures, the intakes are for G5 and 6 both of wich are using the french made JR filters rated at 430hp...."

It looks ok I guess but it is let down by that terrible engine bay and the fact that the filter itself may not be on par with k&n, itg and evoms. You seem to be in too much of a hurry and that's when you make mistakes and pay schoolfees! Wait until after the festive season, new stock may be in then and your budget may be more. Also lots of people are swopping 5's for 6's and the intakes are not interchangeable. Rather hold out for an evoms or itg.

I am in no way putting this intake down but when I was researching intakes for my car I really learnt alot. One of the major things I found was that the placement of the MAF is critical and no one has been able to get match this to OEM. In my opinion just wait to get an Evoms or ITG, don't rush.

I think I saw intakes very similar to this the other night at FR&R.
