Ok, im probably going to get laughed at, but here go's.

My Dad Just Bought a second Hand Golf 5 GTI, how would we be able to see if it has been chipped or not, the Previous owner did not know!! The Car Pulls Strong, and does not seem to be rev limited... I Dont have a Clue where or what to look for any advice would be greratly appreciated

Check out the VCDS register thread for someone nearby you. Contact them, and ask them if they can log requested boost.

Based on that number, you will get a fair idea whether it's stock or not.

When you say not rev limited, what do you mean? how far have you revved it?

well what I mean is when i drive it hard it can rev right into the red without hitting a limiter, or is that normal

cant you dyno it as well (if no one near with Vag-com) and see the power? if much higher than stock specs it should have software..?

How far into the red? The limiter doesn't start where the red bit on the rev counter is...

if you rev it up too high it will show on vag com and if the car is still under warranty and the dealer sees this they will void warranty..so hopefully didnt rev it tooo high..

Also, you can't make that happen just by revving. You'll need to change into the wrong gear...

Hi It Revs Right through to 8000rpm, the Reason im asking is ive had a couple of go's at a stock golf 6 gti, and i beat him easily..

so something must be done???

8k definitely has the rev limiter removed. So not stock...

Just to clear up possible confusion here... If your car is stronger than stock then it can be either be chipped or remap'd. Its two totally different things. The chip will be hardwire (chip box wired onto cars signals and ecu) Remap will be alerted software configuration.

Therefore of its chipped you will see physical modifications. If its been remapped there won't be any physical evidence. Best is to log your car add said above.
