WMI kits? Different make opinions?

Hi guys!

Well there are so many WMI kits that one doesn't really know which to choose from...

I had a Aquamist HFS2/3 (FRC) kit on my old Pug 207 GTI. Never had a days problem and had the kit on for a year. Was also a 2nd hand kit. Heard bad things about their pumps not lasting but I never used full meth through mine. Was only a 50/50 mixture. And the kits come with a solenoid that doesn't accidently inject meth/water into your car when it's parked and standing still... I am leaning towards this kit, but want some opinions on these kits with the VAGs.

Then there's the Devil's Own kits. I have friend who had endless crap with his... The controller would just pack up. And one time his car injected meth into his car overnight while it was parked. Was just white smoke when he started the car. Had to have a solenoid fitted. I need more opinions here?

And then there's the Snow kits. Also there are AEM kits... And AEM is quite a brand overseas, but few of the guys run those kits here? Any of the opinions on these kits?

And then finally... Can one install a separate tank somewhere in the engine bay that the WMI pump can run off? I don't like the fact that I'm losing the ability to wash my windscreen when it gets full of bugs. Feels like I'm stripping the car of it's features, and on a R460K car I'm not gonna do stuff like that.

The DO controllers are dodgy. Pumps are great. I have mine wired in such a way that it cannot inject while the car is off...

You should never use more than a 50% mix anyway. Way dangerous.

My one friend was always complaining about his DO controller. Also said they are dodgy so I think that means I will avoid Devils Own... Lol!

In your case, seeing that you're with e-tuners why not just buy his fmic which replicated the apr intercooler? If you pair that with a twin cooler you should have something very capable.

I agree with you there bud.

I don't really want WMI cause it's actually a schlep. It's a kit you must maintain and check the whole time. And the THS or ETuners intercooler will do the cooling job well.

But what about the fouling of intake valves on our cars? I thought of using only water in the kit to help keep the intake valves clean. Seeing as my car is new it can help prolong the fouling of these valves? Do you know of something else that works better bud?

Yes of course u can have a seperate tank, you can mount in boot or engine bay...BUT to your argument.. you can spray 50/50 meth on your window its perfectly safe... infact window cleaner contains methanol

The big freiling racing kit is pretty good ...mine has not given too much grief and it works with a solenoid ...their cheaper kit is junk , mine flooded my motor when parked and cost me a couple new rods and an oil pump ...when i had my problem i heard from guys off the forum who had trouble of a similiar nature with devils own and snow ...dont even think of buying a kit without a solenoid !!!

The DVC30 is crap. The stage 2 progressives that feed off your car's MAP seem OK. DVC30's pressure sensor seems to go fubar every now and then.

I know, what I'm saying is that the whole point of the PCV block off wtc is to minimise build up on the valves...yet Ruan now says doing that makes more oil into boost pipes which means more build up surely

Well without the blockoff, oil goes straight into the intake manifold.
With the blockoff, it goes via the turbo and intercooler first, which hopefully gives it a chance to settle out and drain from weep holes etc.

^^^ That's what I noticed when I took off the twin cooler when I sold my mk5. The front pcv gets blocked off so it only vents via the rear pcv and that causes it to muck up everything from pipes to cooler.
A catch can does seem to be the best way of going about things.

The only way to keep your valves clean would be to fit a catch can, wmi doesn't really do all that much.

WMI is too much headache, won't use one again, used last time on my MK1 20VT. If I was forced to use wmi, AEM would be the only one I'd use, rest is trash.
