Ibiza Cupra 1.8T clutch

Post by Aidz »

The Clutch is starting to go dont know exact what it could be
Started by sounding funny
The yesterday on the highway after about 20km drive when i pressed clutch there was nothing and also still doing it now
Spoke to SHAUN and he recons its master or slave cylinder
How do i check or test which one it is
and what part will fit there?Or do i need to get one from VW agents?
What will also be an estimated cost on it?

look for leaks at the master under the dash or by the clutch for the slave, that should narrow it down.
But those will not cause your clutch to sound funny.

Think master would though
Scared to know what a price is going to be on it :fear:

if it sounds funny like a whooshing sound when u press clutch in and out - releaser bearing
rather do whole clutch kit, as labour is the same price - u wont be able to only by releaser bearing.. to test if cluch is slipping try pull off in a high gear if car stalls clutch is fine if car seems like pulling/ clutch riding - clutch is gone.
but as i said when it comes to clutch works out more reasonable if u do whole clutch kit +-5k

That.
Do everything now, you don't wanna pay the same amount again to labour 3 months along the line..

Did you inpect for leaks properly?
It could be either the master or slave, rather make sure before you buy.

Does the pedal get stuck to the floor? if not then it could be that metal bar that the release bearing sits on that has bent.

No it doesnt
clutch feels fine in town but on the long road after a while not using it an if I press clutch there is nothing then I have to pump it a few times..
Also the clutch got a noise it actually sounds like a Cable pulling

ok that sounds like a seal giving up on the hydraulics. can be either master or slave but the noise does point to a master...
you didnt run low on brake fluid recently by any chance did you? could be air in the system but thats unlikely.

No break fluid is fine and also maybe it could be air but still how does that happen?
clutch feels fine until i get on the highway and dont use it for a while
Im so confused
