Spring colour on Forge 008 DV

Post by dees@pgti »

Hi Guys,

Just got myself a 008 DV  It comes fitted with a green spring and has 2 additional springs (yellow and blue) supplied with it. I'm running stage 2 sw, don't have a boost gauge so not sure what i'm boosting.

Do I keep the green spring in or fit the yellow one? What are you guys using on your re-mapped cars?

Valve Spring color coding
Green - 5-15 PSI
Yellow - 15-23 PSI
Blue - 23-30 PSI
Red - 30 + PSI

Revo 2 makes +- 20psi so yellow is preferable

you basically have the same setup as i do except i have unitronic sw. i am running blue spring but yosh told me to.

yellow spring should work for you, what i read on the forge website - if your car is dumping alot even with a light throttle or rev then add some spacers or change spring as the spring is too soft. so listen to how your car dumps, if alot try some spacers or just try blue spring.

1.3bar boost is 1.3x14.7=19.11psi

What do you mean by "cranking psi"?

the forge actuator came with these spring "psi" pressure printed on the packet.

The PSI pressures indicated are not what the spring will allow boost to get to but rather at what psi the wategate or in this instance the dv will open at.

Double check this - you dont want to be overboosting

Naseem, are you using the yellow spring with your setup?

We use stock actuators, the spring kit for the dv holds boost better depending on the boost we are running, stage 1 and stage 2 both run 1.3bar boost with 1.4 overboost. I have seen this on my boost gauge

Im actually glad you did

I fitted the yellow spring and can feel boost hold nicer

email from forge

Hi Naseem

Thank you for purchasing Forge Motorsport products.

As a rule of thumb 2 spacers will equal 1 psi but this will vary slightly depending on the application as vacuum pressures vary across engine types and tuning will also affect vacuum pressures.

We do not have an image of how they are fitted but it is relatively straightforward. Unscrew the FMCL007P lid in the anti-clockwise direction and remove the spring from the piston, place the shims in the base of the piston and replace the spring on top of the shims and replace the valve lid.

Best Regards

John Withers

U only go blue at full stage 2 with all mods and some extra tuning. Im running blue spring. Used to run yellow but you can hear the car dump too easy or at slightest throttle..so then the spring is too weak and either need to add some shims or go to the next color spring
