caravelle pistons on abf turbo?

Post by shuaib »

hi guys

would like to know if its possible to use a set of caravelle (ae nural) pistons to lower the comp on my abf motor? i know guys use 2e pistons, but i already have a brand new set of caravelle pistons that were given to me, would like to use the stock rods and some arp bolts also, will these pistons be ok?dont plan on boosting more than 1 bar anytime soon.

Measure the height from wrist pin to top and compare to that of the abf piston. If its te same height or less it will work and might even drom CR to low and they will need pockets for the inlet valve.

Other issue I can see with th caravelle is the wrist pin size which is 20mm vs 2e (21mm). Either you will need to machine the pistons(if possible) or get bushes for the rods to bring the size down to 20mm. Ideally to save yourself stress, sell the pistons and get 2e's.

yup can use those pistons but you may have to machine them down a bit to det the right deck height.
But 2e pistons would be better. You can try and find the rare semiforged ones.

No u cant, wrist pin differs and your compression will be to low. There a 2mm difference in deck height between the 2e and combi pistons.
click on the link to see the pic.
2E pistons is your answer
