Polo GTI Steering on Velo

Post by Wheelwore »

Im in the process of sourcing a Polo GTI steering wheel.. Will it work on a Velociti without major mods. I dont need the controls on the side to work, just the hooter.Has anyone on here tried fitting one?

Marla, best bet would be to pull off your wheel and measure the diameter and count the splines.
Also which polo gti are you talking about. I think the 9n one will fit but the 6r i am not sure...

Steering wheel splines will fit and bolt up.
Buttons wont work as it works on can-bus.
You have to make your own plan with the horn and indicator cancellation.

I fitted a PGTI steering wheel on my golf a while back to see if it will fit. And it fits like a glove, looks very classy in the Skoda interior... The turn-signal cancellation is the main problem, the hooter is a little less complicated to do.

No sorry, Grant (G-Spot) was fitting Ruan's G5 GTI steering wheel at my house, and I took the PGTI steering wheel and put it on my car just to see what it looks like. I'm sure if my roof lining was black it would've looked even better though. My dash is also the dark grey one, so the black leather contrasted a little bit with the dash. It should look pretty decent in a Velo interior though.

You get vinyl spray, much like Plastidip. I see your door cards are different to mine, do you have the old-spec doors?

Just to be clear.... 9n/9n2 will fit (i Assume Vivo also) but 6R won't??? And also assume that there is no difference between the fitment on a GTi wheel to a normal 1.6i wheel? Not talking about buttons and such.

Hi Guys,

Sory to bring up an old thread. Did anybody manage to get this done and get the hooter to work?
I recently purchased a Polo Tsi Steering wheel which I would like to fit in the golf but a few people have told me that the hooter won't work.

I'm not so keen on putting a separate button for the hooter and therefore really hoping that there is a way around this.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
