Depends on what you are looking for. If for easy fitment and removal by you at your own discretion then (chip) plug and play. If you want outright power then remap (software) is better.

Best fuel consumption would be either stock or a mild remap. Most power is a strong remap. Not the same maps.

More boost generally equals more fuel. The trend is for remap and if the car is driven normally you will see consumption improve slightly on those maps we are used to here. WOT with the extra boost characteristics of the remap will mean more fule usage so will be heavier in theory.

Chip is 1 generic map ( all the same ) whereas software is fine tuned for each individual car !!

Go software , its the best bang for buck !!

No...

A chip is a physical device that is used to adjust the inoming signal the ECU see's to fool it into adding more boost, adding fuel, adjust timing, etc, etc. Software is an adjustment of the boost, fueling, timing, etc tables on the ECU itself via the OBD port with no physical change made to or hardware added to the car...

Howzit man, Awesome cab you have there, it responds extremely well to software, and is probably the best bang for your buck mod that you can do on it.

it basically comes down to price and after sale service.. Pricing varies depending on the service provider that you chose. on special you looking at R2500. average price is around the R3500 mark.

Some of the more established tuners are Revo, STO, CPI, E Tuners, Unitronic, Stealth (No Particular order)

Have a look at the forum Sponser section, you'll find them there :hi:

STO-Tuned Polo TDi 74kw - 122 bhp
CW Mk 5 GTi - Dp, Intake, Stealth Stage 2

Dimsport (Trevor Greene) is generally regarded very highly.

That is what I have. Fantastic maps. When I went for this years ago there was not much choice ...Trevor was R3000 and Revo was R7000...so I went for Dimsport.

But now we have many choices so also consider:

Revo
STO tuning
E-Tuners
FRC.

From time to time and at year end there are specials which are worth waiting for...
