Turbo exhaust manifold
Hey all,
Does the golf 4 gti exhaust manifold fit onto a 2E block?(with a mk2 2l 16v head)?
What is the best exhaust manifold to use for a turbo ugrade on this particular engine?
and do you get aftermarket ones and where/how much?

it will not fit because Golf 4 Gti is 20v.
You can get from Clive at topsport. He does 2 different type, a cast one and a proper branch type. They are between R1000 and about R2000.

Ok so if i had to buy a mani and use a small turbo for now, then change to a bigger one later, which mani would i buy?I heard u have to buy different manifolds for different turbo sizes etc...
Are those TD04H turbo's big enough for a 2l 16V?

Hey Puben,no not yet, just planning ahead! well i was thinking cos Quickie is selling a golf 4 turbo and mani for 1K so i was thinking of just plopping that on!but its a 20V head,so neva mind...
Apparently all the Garret parts have a rectangular flange so i was thinking(in the future wen iv saved a bit)about gettin a T25 and then ugrading to a GT28rs later...Are all the Garrett turbo's interchangeable,or would i have to change the ex mani if i wanted say a t3/t4? anyone?

Rather go for the T3 footprint - that way you can use a straight T3 to start off with and later go to a much bigger T3/T4 without changing manifolds ....GTI_man wrote:Ok so if i had to buy a mani and use a small turbo for now, then change to a bigger one later, which mani would i buy?I heard u have to buy different manifolds for different turbo sizes etc...

T25 footprint differs from the T3 differs from the T4GTI_man wrote: Apparently all the Garret parts have a rectangular flange so i was thinking(in the future wen iv saved a bit)about gettin a T25 and then ugrading to a GT28rs later...Are all the Garrett turbo's interchangeable,or would i have to change the ex mani if i wanted say a t3/t4? anyone?
That is wy I say start with a T3 and then later you can upgrade to T3/T4 as the T3/T4 still uses a T3 exhaust housing.

Garret only sells the GT series and stoped the normal T3/T4 series.GTI_man wrote:Ok cool, should i go with Garrett? how can i tell if its genuine cos apparently there are lotsa fakes out there...

Turbonetics is the same thing - and that you can get at a decent price from Turbo and Nos / Topsport - a new turbo from them carries a 1 year no questions asked garantee.

Ok i think what il do is this: Get a Garrett T25 2nd hand(like from the 200SX) and that manifold, then save up and swap it for a GT28rs turbo.(This is the advice Devan gave me)Seems logical, but is that GT28rs a big turbo?
He said its a ball bearing Garrett turbo...whats it equivelent to in size?a T28?is that not a lil small for a 2l 16V?

GT28 is a small turbo - wont do if you want big power - the GT28 would be a nice turbo if you had a uno turboGTI_man wrote:Ok i think what il do is this: Get a Garrett T25 2nd hand(like from the 200SX) and that manifold, then save up and swap it for a GT28rs turbo.(This is the advice Devan gave me)Seems logical, but is that GT28rs a big turbo?
