Gymkarting : 31 March 2012 *Enduro Karting Results*

Post by Kibim »

Enduro Karting and Gymkarting

So you think you can drive?

One of the most challenging events of the year is back on the 31st of March at the Zwartkops Kart Track. A day of 4 wheel fun where your skill can truly be tested on the edge. We will be running an enduro karting session where you can pit your skills against 9 other karts on the track. True wheel to wheel racing. The rest of the day is open to the cars. The Kart circuit is very tight, and almost a gymkhana for a road-car! It's a race against the clock to get around the track ahead of your class mates, and in keeping it out of the barriers.

Venue : Zwartkops Kart Track
Time : 8am start to 5pm

Costs :
Enduro Karting - R1700/Kart, divided by the number of drivers in a team (so 4 drivers equals R425 per person, etc).
Gymkarting - R180 members, R220 non-members.
Enduro Karting and Gymkarting entered separately. You can compete in either or both.

N.B. Helmets, long pants and sleeves are compulsory for safety reasons!

The Karting will be split up into 10 teams! You can have up to 5 members per team, the more members you have, the less each one pays, but you get less track time. We will also allocate teams on the day, so if your mates bail on you, we can still offer you a ride.

Classes are the normal classes for the cars. A, B, C, FA, FB, TDI and M. With the 3,2,1 points scoring for 1st, 2nd, 3rd respectivly. And obviously the 1 point for attendance.

The karting itself doesn't count for points; it's a fun/social thing

Yes, absolutely. I'll work a package deal, and as long as you have the time on the day, you can easily enter both events.

It's a 15min session and depending on team mates, you'd get 2 sessions in the allocated 2 hour window. Fastest lap last year was a 1m00.7, so you'll get close to 13/14 laps a stint if you're quick. (10 is a good average tho)

Racingfreak and Titliest, I'd offer you two to join my team, only we'd never get to race eachother then.

crawler, we haven't made times hard and fast yet, and depending on the karting interest, we'll have to work out times of the sessions.

I'm trying to tie down pricing today, but all of Z's lines are down, so no phones and no mailing has made it a little tricky to get hold of them. I've got provisional quotes, but i'm trying to get better pricing.

In the region of R450 per team member per kart (more members = less contribution) and around R180 per vehicle.

The karting is obviously a litlte pricey, as you're pretty much abusing someone elses' tyres and fuel, but it's well worth it.

Please remember you DO NOT have to enter both to compete. The karting is more a social pre-run to the event. The gymkarting will be the club points events.

Last year, as we only did karting, we allocated points for attendance and then for places per team. Bigmig 'won' that one, with the 2nd fastest time of the day. The fastest time of the day wasn't eligible for points
