Mk1 rev counter sender unit

Post by klippie »

Ok guys a quick Q,

Where does the rev counter in the cluster get its data from? I have a new cluster but the rev counter is dead, i suspect the sender unit to be fault if there is such a thing...

Everything else on the cluster works

Did your old cluster not have a rev counter? if not and u fitted one to accomodate rev counter, then the signal comes from the negative of your 2 pin coil.

thank you velly much. will check tomorrow moring. the old cluster did have a rev counter, but the board connector was f'ed. so got a new one. the rev counter has never worked. so thus i believe that to be the problem. ill look for a wiring diagram for the cluster online. to make sure that the wire is running to the coil.

Bru its pin 4 on dicktator that supplies rev counter signal. you using square dash cluster so it will work fine without resistors etc.

My harnes plug looks like this,

Purple
Yellow with a red stripe
Red with a black stripe
Red
Blue with a white stripe
Thick Black
Thick Black

Black

I connected it with the Yellow/white and the red/black.

I had the same problem but I have the new dash. I have a old wiring loom laying around. Will have a look and maybe trace the wires for you.

Check this. Here the guys say on the old dash its the thick green wire but dont see a thick green wire on your wires.
