How can i try and prevent my golf from being stolen

Post by ahmedy »

Guys i would like to get your advice on some methods of preventing my golf from being stolen. I was shocked to find out how piss easy it is for someone to steal a golf. Any and all help would be really appreciated guys. My golf is all i own and so i would really like to try my best to keep it for as long as i can.

What is "yourls"? Sounds like some sort of disease.......

Joking aside, if you don't want a car stolen, don't buy a car. Seriously, there are so many things you can do like immobilisers, alarms, snakes, gearlocks, DIY switches hidden away, etc, but any type of device or switch will essentially just slow the thieves down. If they want a car, they will take it.

on my golf i had no keyholes on the doors, security plates on the handles, no doorknobs, std vw imobiliser, level4a imobiliser and level4c alarm imobiliser& a home made fuel cutout..

Simplest to do is add the security plates under the handles, mod the back handles to fit the front and run central locking to open the doors.

I used to remove the ignition coil cable (running from coil to dizzy) from my Citi when ever I parked it in a dodgy looking area. I figured if they couldn't get it to start at all they couldn't steal it.

If the area was really suspect I'd pull out the PRS AFM management completely. Nothing short of a flat bed or tow truck would get the car then

my neighbor removes his management and radio before he goes to sleep. They tried steeling the car but could only get to the bottom of the road. Its his weekend car so it parks outside.

guys any idea whom i can phone in durban for the security plates to put behind the door handle, gold wagon and golf city have no idea what im on about.

removing the ignition coil cabel sounds like a good plan and i think i need to start doing that.

its so crap when you think of the lengths we need to go to just to prevent losing what we work so hard for and for what we take pride in.

also guys i am really appreciative of all your help and i hope this helps other golf drivers out there.

these i think are good ones
1. hidden switch to cut fuel or ignition power
2. remove your coil ignition lead from the dizzy
3. gearlock and steering wheel lock
4. 10mm chain through the steering wheel and around your clutch pedal with 2 huge locks

a) sell it and buy something korean that thieves cant pronounce like a Hyundai (thanks Barry Hilton)
b) throw as many obvious things like gear and steering locks as possible and always park next so something that looks easier to steal, hopefully they'll choose the easy job over ur cabbie...
