2E or ADY
so just been trying to decide which motor is better? Some guys are convinced the ADY is better than the 2E and vice versa.
What are the differences between the 2 motors? As I've heard the ADY is a newer motor.
Is there anyone that can break it down to me with regards to which one would be the best option.

Yes, the ADY is a newer model motor than the 2E, so if getting an ADY chances are good that it will have less km on it than a 2E.
Also the 2E has only a dizzy, while the ADY has a 60-2 crank angle sensor already fitted as stock (60-2 wheel fitted to crank and sensor fitted to the block under the dizzy).

Is the AGG the same as 2E & ADY in terms of spec's.
WRT timing setup, are the timing marking on the AGG the same as any other 8v motor or does the set up differ in any way (i.e. cam pulley to tappet cover, dissy points to no. 1 cylinder, crank pulley marking line up to lower engine cover marking, no.1 piston on TDC). TIA

How does your motors idle when you start up in the morning or evening when its cold? Does it idle un-assisted?
I have to keep my foot on the accelerator, use the fuel pot thing to enrich the mixture and wait for the motor to warm up half way on the gauge before it idles on its own.
I plan on putting the std A cam back in & retune it to make the car idle better (un-assisted) and for reliability & drivability sake.

If you have a laptop, tune the cold start yourself through the Mr Turbo software.
I tuned the Perfect Power XMS4 in the Jetta that way through the LetRipp software and cold starts are no issue. Also did the same with the Gotech fitted previously and also no issues there with cold starts.

Hi guys im new at the racing game , I bought a golf 3 gti with a 2l 8v ady motor, need some help with regards to making it faster, I would like to put bigger injectors or even throttles but I dont know which way to go, would like to put a cam in as the motor is standard but has a 57mm exhaust right through, so the question is could I put bigger injectors and cam and then wat else could I do to improve power and helpibg it get off the line quicker

1st expect to spend R1000/kW on an N/A engine.
2nd you have a very heavy body for the purposes of racing. I suggest a Citi with the same engine as the power to weight ratio is loads better.
3rd suspension and weight reduction can make a larger improvement in real world track performance than engine upgrades. Rather look into a set of proper racing coilies and better brakes before you even put a spanner on the engine. Polyurethane suspension bushes and sway bar upgrades can make noticeable improvements in lap times on a track. A roll cage also makes a difference by reducing chassis torsion during cornering, the flex can affect the wheel alignment enough to take one off of the racing line, which costs time.
Check through the threads and you can find numerous threads posted by racers detailing the modifications made to their cars to make them faster, very little of which is engine work.
Finally find a decent tuner (*cough* 8V Performance*cough*) close to you and chat to them about your goals. They can advise you how best to achieve the most from your existing engine whilst meeting the rule requirements for your chosen class. Download the rule book from the MSA website, study it closely.

Are you talking actual racing racing as in track or street racing.
Either way, you picked the wrong tool.
Bigger injectors on it's own does not make more power. They are needed only if you make other big mods. In anybcase they will support more hp younare likely ever to make in naturally aspirated form anyway.

In all honesty a NA 8v in a mk3 will never be fast. Yes you can make it a little bit better but it may not be worth the money spent on it. Add a cam, tune accordingly and be happy.
I've always wanted to bolt up an Eaton supercharger to an 8v motor. Maybe look into that, but thats a fair bit of fabrication.

Mk3s are HEEEEAVY! i owned one for 2 weeks and then realised it just wasn't worth my money. If you plan on using it for racing i would advise to look for a lighter platform.

Hi guys, I'm new here. Sorry for going off topic and adding to the initial question. I just want to know if anyone has did a 2E with a carb conversion and what the perks are if any and what the proper setup would be to ge the most out of it. I just bought a citi golf with a 2E Carb in.
