Polish/Wax coat just washes off - Not Good!

Post by ch4os »

Hi guys,

Polished my car for about 3 hours last weekend with a buffer, came out real good but i just went to wash my car this morning and all the polish and wax (aka hard work) that i put in last week just washed off ! Is there anyway of preventing this, as far as i know it should last up to a month at least??

Im using Meguiars soft wash gel shampoo
Holts Colour match polish (My Car is black, and it really help to cover up the marks/scratches etc)
And Meguiars Cleaner wax

Thanks!

The polish you're using is not rated so good
Cleaner wax actually cleans, once done with this, you need to seal the effect with a paste wax or a sealant

I think your problem lies in using the wrong product combination. That colour stuff contains dyes which will mask your defects for a while but it will wash off quite easily. I think your problem stem from the fact that you following up that polish with meguiars CLEANER wax. The cleaner wax does exactly what it says, it cleans the paint and in effect also cleans your dye.

Rather look at following up with a pure wax or sealant that contains NO cleaners or abrasives and you should be fine ;)

4 step process wash, clay, polish and wax

Check autoglym out for a good polish, their super resin polish is brilliant for black cars and then use their wax or a megs wax and not the cleaner wax...

check out this cool site for more info http://www.waxon.co.za/index.php

Hope my 2cents helps...
