Post by marnus »

Have a question and know you guys can help me.
Can anyone tell me that this box is on a velociti wiring loom.. It looks like a box for the alarms system. Or is this the boardnetz box. If its not the Boardnetz box can I use this box for somethiing else . Do you need the boardnets box for the cluster to work. Where can I buy it?

The box that i have is alittle different from yours, it does say shurlok but it has 2 black plugs. That box controls the clocks. Mine was giving problems, the fuel guage didnt work, the wipers also didnt work. I had to replace it with a second hand 1, i paid R300.

Boardnetz controls almost everything on the new dash. Indicators, dash lights, cluster, rev counter and related. Mine as well, is a bit different from the pic. I'll try to get a pic for you. Uses two plugs as well. Second hand, I paid like R500

Haha. That’s a good idea hahaha. Will give them a call. Is the transponder box like a velociti’s ECU. Sorry if I sound dum. If I want to fit a velocity dashboard to a golf1 I will only need the boardnetz box and no need for the transponder box.
Thanks

no its part of the immobilizer system.

is your car fuel injected?

do do the dash swap, you need the ecu, loom, boardnetz and dash, brackets, heater box + vacuum pipes and vacuum motors..

The car is caberator, but want to make it FI 2l ADY Conversion.

Have the following:

loom,
dash,
brackets (Will the old brackets work)
heater box (think the old heater box will work)
vacuum pipes and vacuum motors ( Still sourcing for this)

Have the following:

loom,
dash,
brackets (Will the old brackets work) - no
heater box (think the old heater box will work) - it will, but the plugs are different
vacuum pipes and vacuum motors ( Still sourcing for this) - find them otherwise you cant control the direction of the wind

That is the stcm that replaced the tci unit on the newer models.
It is fully diagnosable and you need to put it in basic settings if you want to adjust timming for the carb models.
If you going FI you wont need it.
The boardnetz is on the right side of dash and has two big plugs.

okay thanks . So I need to find the boardnetz box somewhere for the dashboard to be usefull in any way. lol.

Is this new dash conversion really worth all the effort, or must I leave it and put all the effort into a 2l ADY conversion. I know its 2 different things but with effort goes time and money!

Well my car came with the new spec dash already changed, but the previous owner didnt know what the hell he was doing. Most of the things didnt work. So when i got the car i had to go around searching just to get everything working. At the end of the day if you dont have a donor car to get all the right parts that you need would just be a waste of time and money in my opinion.

Rather leave the old dash, marnus. Much less hassle to get everything working.
