I wish somebody would actually do this. The theory behind it is great, and it should rev to 9000rpm no issue.

But somebody needs to actually do it. Will need to spend a fair amount of dosh though.
One of our members has built one of these! 1.6 with 16v head except it has a turbo slapped on. Revs to 8000. It lives in a red 1990's VW FOX ;)

What's the difference between the hm 1600s and these afx motors besides the obvious of one being carb and the other fi?

Nobody mentioned super short gear ratios for the high revving 1.6 set-up

these motors are very nippy,my friend has citi 1.6,with just a 276 cam and it made 80wkw but 138nm torque,at rally cross motors here in durban, very impressive.

Hi Guys.

The name is Anton. I had some issues with my 2005 Polo 1.6 C\L, which resulted in me pulling out the engine.
My brother owns a very strong Mazda 3 MPS +- 400kw and I also want better performance. Considering that it's my everyday ride I don't want to go crazy like my boet.

Can anyone please advise as to what would be the best option to go aspirated tune-up an more or less costs involved.
I will be taking the head and block in on Monday for machining, any good suggestions in and around the Kempton park area?

Hope that this idea I have dont turn out to be stupid. Please can someone help??? :geek:

not sure what this C\L business is as I don't know such a model unless you mean classic for the sedan version which was not called that anymore.
But anyways - BAH engine code?.
