Hi there.
Well done for a nice day on saturday. Sorry I didn't compete but I'd rather not do anything funny with the cabrio until I'm comfortable with driving it.

Now I have a question: The Mk3 cabrio doesn't have the front foglights that the VR6 (and I believe GTI) have. Now I'd like to get a set but I don't know whether the harnass has the wiring available for it. Does anybody know whether it's there? My switch on the dash has the positions for it but obviosly nothing happens. Also can I just put some globes in the back foglight areas as well? Is the wiring available for it as well.

Thank you in advance.
I would like to apologize to anyone I have NOT offended.
Please be patient.
I will get to you shortly...

howsit man

A pal of mine had the Golf3 cabby-we had 2 do our own wiring as ther is no wires for those fogs-The switch inside the car is actually for the back fogs.the wires are in the back but u hav 2 do some changes on the harness behin your light so even if u put globes ther it wouldnt work.

However most of the golfs including mine jus connect that spare space to the brake lights.Looks great.

Cheers

This is irritating... It has the switch and wiring for the back fogs but it doesn't work if you put globes in??? Why the #### did they do that?

Thanks for the info... May then just go for the better looking fogs available out there if I'm going to need to wire the system myself in any case...

The switch inside the car is actually for the back fogs.the wires are in the back but u hav 2 do some changes on the harness behin your light so even if u put globes ther it wouldnt work.

that's funny, 'cos i helped a friend of mine install the fogs for the front and rear of his mk3, and just by popping the globe in and installing the fuse and relay we got the rears to work (?) ??? the relay we bought of the dealers. the fronts were a bit of a pain, 'cos the wiring runs from the fuse box to the back (not from the switch, the switch wiring runs to the fuse box) and it took us some time to find the correct wires for the fogs. eventually, when found we soldered on another set of wires onto it and ran those to the front of the car for the front fogs. the installation of the front fogs was ten minutes, almost plug'n play :D all in all the installation took just over an hour...
anyway, surge, i suggest u go to the dealers, they have a beautiful schematic of the wiring setup, just study it to know for sure what'ya need to do and get the relay of them, 'cos u probably have an empty spot where it's supposed to be in ur fuse box. thou, the golf we worked on wasn't a cabby, so it could be different with u...
hope this helps...

MMmmmm interesting... Could have been the relay that Zaa was missing. Then at least I can get the back ones working. I'm hoping that cause the Cabbie is imported the wiring harnass for the front could be there. Then it's just plug and play. I'll have a look over the weekend and see what I come up with.

Thanks.
