CTi Centre Consol Guages

Post by DCShoes »

Does anyone know how to connect up the wiring of the electric oil pressure guage thats in the middle consol of the CTi golfs?

The guage has 3 terminals, one +, one - and one that should go to a sender unit, but, the motor has 2. Blue one (top), white one (bottom).
Ive tried all combinations, but not getting it right. The guage definitely works, but just not in my car.

The other 2 (volt & temp) are easy. Ive done them already.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Are you using the original vdo gauges, you must have the sender unit for it as well, which came std only on the Gti & Cti. The blue & white sender that you trying to tap off wont work.

Yes,

I'm using the original VDO guages.

What does the sender unit look like? Where does it go on the engine?

Thank you VERY much!!

I'm assuming one terminal connects to the wire that would have gone on the blue sensor that is on the top of the head, the other goes to the centre consol's guage?

And don't mix them up, if you connect the wrong wire to the wrong pole it blows the sender, ps they are pretty pricey

IIRC the one pole is marked G and the other L
L= light and G = gauge

I'll try find the details of the guy in Blairgowery I got mine from .. the single pole for a 5 bar gauge (make sure which one yours is) is around R350.00

Ahhh,

Thankx a MIL man, I'd appreciate that.

Mine is the 10 bar gauge. And aparently, the sender unit must be the 2 pole one.

Thanks again.

Hi All
Sorry to revive such an old thread but is there anyone/company that I can take my CTi to and have my oil pressure gauge fixed and my oil temp gauge changed?
My car currently has a vdo gauge for oil pressure that doesnt work and then an auto-gauge in place for the oil temp. Would like to get the correct VDO gauges and senders etc from Time Access Systems.

Rather find good used VDO gauges - they crop up on FB etc from time to time.

Sad to say, but the new VDO stuff is no longer Made in Germany and the quality reflects that.
