Another thing is ,you can only use 2 misters ,more and the pump just leaks the water no mist.

Another thing is that you can mix the water with some cind of alcohol that makes it vaporate quicker and cool better.
Do you use this system on your car? what would something like this cost me using my own window washer bottle?

I bought the normal irregation thin pipe and misters from Builders with a pump from spares shop ,the pump was +- R70-00 and the misters were +- R30-00.

The problem is that you have to strip the bumper off to route the pipe and mount the misters.

There are actually water-cooled intercoolers available. I have been doing research but think most are sold overseas.
Not sure how they work but I think they have an outer layer that has water flowing around for cooling. The bike fan has been something i have been looking at for a while. My friend actually brought it up since he works for a bike place and has these sorts of parts lying around for the taking. I am going to ask him to get one and see what can be done.

There are some guys overseas attaching dry ice on the intercoolers
There are even guys that supply specially made Dry Ice intercoolers in Australia i believe.
Gonna do more research

The switch you can get from any electronic spare shop ,it is a micro switch with a lever on the 1 side that is pressed by the peddle when you put foot.

Heres what i did.

Took the front bumper off and mounted another water bottle - ps remember the bottle for zenon headlights are larger capacity. Reason for two bottles is that one is for meth

another thing to remember is where to mount it.
MY RED G5 HAD then mounted onto the front grill - wheres as the silver one has them mounted above the cooler. the red g5 had standard cooler and was higher then the aftermarket one. Hence the move in positions

When to have them kick in im not sure. I use them before and while running.

What i also do is have ice on hand which i throw into the water bottle which reduces temp quite nicely. Also note this wont give you pwer BUT consistency on your runs.!

Ive looked at the unit from quarter mile. Lookign at 8g's but the owner told me its not very popular. AND OFFERED IT FOR 6.

remember dry ice leaves a residue which can block the sprayer.

If you spending anything over 300.00 rather buy hardware that will give you power.!

Thanks man! Already have all the hardware, just looking at something to cool the charge going through my FMIC even more eventhough I once said its large enough to cool down the karoo
Have also been thinking of WMI but its a bit too much $$$ at the moment and an intercooler spray is far more cost effective done DIY

Hi Guys

I know this is an old thread but i'm looking at doing the same as the above.

Anybody got more info on this and pictures? I'd prefer to just pruchase a kit and install it, if possible.
Not looking at big or any gains just want to lessen heat soak given that summer is here.

WMI is the other route i know but not willing to go down that route just yet.

Buy a WMI kit - but get a couple of big nozzles and lead them to the front of your intercooler.

Then when you're ready, just tap a smaller nozzle into the boost pipe :D

Apparently the science behind it all negates it pretty much. You need to be spraying a substantial amount of water for it to have any effect, and either way these modern 2.0T's have their cooler sandwiched between radiators and aircon stuffs. Your much better off just buying a pair of colder sparkpugs from Mooloo or Yosh tokkelosh.

M freind Brennan Green has a IC sprayer system on his mkV gti clubmans car. It makes a huge difference. He has a DevilsOwn pump with a couple of nozzles and a 8l aluminum tank.

Yeah it works if you spraying only a couple times to cool the IC off like between runs.. but dont expect to be spraying all the time and driving because as Ruan said you need to spray a substantial amount of water to make a difference and unless you have a huge tank thats not going to happen.

Just a toggle switch to spray water on the IC before a run will cool it down if you are already heatsoaking or nearly and bring you back down to ambient temps.

Its possible to DIY a cheap system to do this.

The earlier Scoobs came with this standard.

I have read up quite a bit about doing this before I installed the fmic.
The main problem is that you need a water mist blowing over the cooler, Its easy enough to get piping and mist nozzles.
The issue comes in with the mist nozzles, They only work on high pressure systems, Way higher than what your washer bottle pump will be able to supply.

Running a window washer nozzle or flower garden sprayer doesn't really have much cooling effect if sprayed onto the cooler while driving as the droplets are to big to cool the air before it goes through the cooler. However it will cool the cooler down after or before runs, So you are basically soaking the cooler with water.

What about putting a fan on the standard IC?

Well a fan can spin constantly so I was wondering if it would have a better effect than just standard vents.....
