Re: How cann I diy an intercooler spray?
Volkspares has intercoolers with incorporated CO2 bars, how would that work? Shouldn't the nozzles be fitted as far foward as possible so that they have the most time to cool before hitting the cooler?
The yaris has an electric aircon pump, how bout using something similar to charge the intake charge

I was thinking something small like a 9" fan on the standard IC.....G-Spot wrote:The power you use to run the fan will cancel out the gain you get, i would think

Doubt the fan will be able to move more air than the airflow when driving, they may even be causing a restriction.shaneskip wrote:Well a fan can spin constantly so I was wondering if it would have a better effect than just standard vents.....Nerville wrote:for cooling while standing still?shaneskip wrote: What about putting a fan on the standard IC?

Re: How cann I diy an intercooler spray?
Maybe use boost pressure into the water tank instead of a pump.. With a valve, or even no valve the vacuum would not suck water back if the tank/air inlet is on top.
Ive seen this idea for water injection..
You will have to find a way for the sprayers not to leak when there is no pressure, unless you have the water tank lower than the sprayers

Re: How cann I diy an intercooler spray?
Anybody think this idea is feasible?
Any experience with sprayers? irrigation sprayers, will they spray/mist nicely with 0.5 bar pressure?

one way valve solves that issue completelygtidon wrote:Maybe use boost pressure into the water tank instead of a pump.. With a valve, or even no valve the vacuum would not suck water back if the tank/air inlet is on top.

Re: How cann I diy an intercooler spray?
I have done this on a stage 3 OPC. Extra water bottle, water pump, valve, piping, switch and 2 sprayers.
It makes a huge difference on hot days. Standing still or driving. Kills the heat soak instantly with 1 second of spraying. Aircon also cools down instantly. 2L bottle lasts about a day with some hard driving. It frustrates me to drive without it.
CO2 will obviously work better but very costly to keep the bottle full. I've also done allot of reading about it and after so much debate I decided to try it for myself and I recommend it for any turbo car. cheap and effective

Re: How cann I diy an intercooler spray?
heres some results of D.I.Y intercooler spray pimped off the Pug club.
some of you may remeber I made an intercooler spraying system about 18 months or so ago, but I removed it when I had the bigger intercooler installed. I know Franky now has made 1 for himself too.
Well, tonight I decided to make mine again. The results are astounding..intake temps drop up to 6C BELOW ambient temp. Keep in mind that I'm using the stock intercooler again, so with a bigger intercooler I would imagine that the results would be even better

And by one-way valve you mean check valvePoLonY wrote:one way valve solves that issue completelygtidon wrote:Maybe use boost pressure into the water tank instead of a pump.. With a valve, or even no valve the vacuum would not suck water back if the tank/air inlet is on top.
