steve1, I found this site on the web last week (can't remember the address) but they were selling an upgrade kit for the GTI. Included a bigger turbo, change in exhaust setup (where the catalyst is), 2 intercoolers, and a few other bits and pieces. so I would assume that 2 intercoolers would help but dunno how much. it's gonna be a bit of work aswell because they had vented the front skirting for the new cooling setup.

I know that SAC has been developing a duel cooler setup - saw it on one of their cars at Gerotek. I don't have exact power increases or cost but yes it makes sense that with you bigger turbo setup if you can get coller air to the motor that you will see more power. The cooler the intake charge the better the performance and it increases engine life.

Not one of them is twin turbo - simply not viable from a factory point of view for such a small motor. The new S3 has the same twin cooler setup and turbo as the TT and the same output.

You can copy the setup on the 154Kw S3. You'll need the plumbing and second intercooler + all the clamps etc. I think Eurosport sell the kit. Will be expensive if you import, rather just buy locally. Get in touch with an S3 owner and get the part numbers.Steve1 wrote:Would a dual intercooler setup on a Golf MK4 1.8t improve performance? This setup is found on the Audi S3 and TT. Would there not be pressure drop?
Think of the power it will save you from losing (through heatsoak), rather than the gain.
Another option is Alpine's Aqua Cooler. Driven a GTi with one, definately better power, even on a normal summer day (25C).

The Audi 2.7T is also twin turbo (or BI TURBO), it is rumoured this motor will be in the new TT.CeeTwo wrote:The only twin turbo Audi I know is the RS8 I think.
V8 twin turbo....4WD and standard 18" wheels...
You tell me what you think??
