Hi ppl

Has anyone ever experienced the exhaust gas light come on while driving, in usally comes on just before starting but goes off when the engine is running.

Mines comes on when i drive from inland to sea level, but goes off on the second restart. And also comes on when i change diesel i.e sasol to shell.

Is this a common problem on remapped sportlines?

Its the yellow engine logo'd l.e.d. that come on just before starting the tdi on the speedometer. It's the exhaust emissions light and is also linked to the diesel particulate filter.

:?

Could you post a pic please ... IIRC there's no ETG standard on the HUD of the S/L's

(please tell me you not referring to the orange/yellow coil light on the HUD before start-up? Can't be ... )

Do you have a picture, as I can't find a picture of one on the net :? I know teh overseas Polo's are fitted with these sesnors and warning lamps, but didn't think there was legislation like that in S.A....

Which one are you reffering to Kuven :?: One is a engine warning light which can mean hundreds of things, one is the battery warning light and the other one I can see is the cruise control...

this is a pic of the seat leon dash, its the yellowish orange light on the speedo. I did some research and this is a common fault overseas with vw's.
Most of the time its a faulty lambda sensor. hopefully it is as easy as that.

And that is not a Polo bin...

As far as I know that is a general engine warning light and could mean anything :? Suggestion is to take the car in to a VW dealership and get a VAG-com scan done for fault codes...

sorry guys for the mix up. thats what vw calls that warning light in the manual. it also mentions the diesel particulate filter on the sportline as well.

Gonna book it in at a dealer next week.

Thanks for the feedback.

No worries, interesting that it is called that in the book  As far as I understand, it could mean a number of things...

The best would be to get VW to read the fault codes and store them, then erase them from memory and drive the car for a few days and get them read again  That way you can isolate the ones that are being generated now from the old ones that have not been erased

that can't be a sportline cluster...

the back door is open on that pic and sportlines don't have back doors ....

so which car is this cluster from?

Its called a "Check Engine Light"

Any Major Fault that is picked up will cause that light to come on.

It should be on when you start the car and immediately switch off.

If it stays on get it scanned with VAG-COM and the fault will show itself.

It could be a hundred different things not only the exhaust.
