Engine not idling. - If under 1500rpm.
Yesterday on my way to work my cars engine started to cut out each time I stop at a traffic light or stop street. I had to pull out the choke for the engine to idle. Last night I open the Weber carb and suck and blow thru both main and idle jets. I cleaned the distributor and spray sum carb cleaner on the base of the carb to see if it sucks air. Did not notes any drop in the rpm. I had to turn the idle screw for the engine to keep idling. Each time I turn the idle screw and the engine drops beneath 1500rpm the rpm drops and the engine cut out. I had to drive this morning to work with a car idling ar 2000rpm. What can the problem be? (My cars specifications are at the bottom with my signature.)

What about the air mixture skroefy are you sure its in place and maybe your choke plunger inside the carb is stuck.
Another Q do you have a shut off solenoid / electrical shut off on the carb ????

JacquesC. Both the air mixture screw and idle screw are in place. I turn both of them last night to get the engine to idle (Now 2000rpm for it not to cut out.) Well last nigh, before I fiddled with the idle screw to get the engine to idle, I pulled out the choke and the rpm climb to 2000 and when I push it back the rpm dropt and the engine cuts out. So can the choke plunger inside the curb still be stuck? No I do not have a shut off solenoid on the curb. Please I am desperate.

It's most likely an air correction jet or the idle fuel circuit that is blocked. Best is take the carb off - strip it and get some compressed air. Blow through all the holes channels and jets. Unscrew the jets as well and do this(make sure you do them one by one or make notes of which one you take out where). Wash the carb nicely and put it all together. This should do it. There are a lot of places you can't get to with the carb closed and bolted to the car.

What carb(s) are you running? Is it a sidedraught or downdraught? And does it have a idling jet that operates with a solenoid or not? If so, then make sure that the solenoid activates. Switch the ignition on and listen if it clicks in the carb. If it does then it's working, but it might be dirty. If not, then you need to check the ground wire and the 12v feed to the carb. If those are all in order then the solenoid might need replacing.
