Guys, I don't think we should get down about losing an event because of numbers. Until about two or three years ago the GTi club was nearly dead - we're working off a much smaller base than the Opel club which has maintained a much higher level of support over th past few years (with some support from the manufacturer, it sounds like).citi.com wrote:Rabbit16v wrote:Like I already said, total number of VW's over the entire weekend was something like 80
The last I heard we lost the Gerotek chalange by something like 400 points .
Ah ####!!!
Do you know how many car's they had there? I don't mind if we lost, one can't always win. But if we lost again, plainly because we didn't have enough cars, then it's really sad!!!
But I see we didn't lose by the same amount of points like we did at Tarlton. *phew* Which shows there was at least some improvement. But lets first wait for the official results.
In addition, some guys, like myself, have other demands (this weekend was the first one in the past ten that I was not at work) which inevitably results in some things having to take a back seat (my new disks are still sitting in the garage ).
Well done, to those guys who did make it, lets build on the positives and, with time, we'll definitely give the Opel club a smack!
(One last thing that may not affect others - I have serious insurance and financial concerns constraining my "track" attendence - any more claims would proabbly result in me acquiring uninsurable status, I also doubt that insurance would pay for a track related mishap)

Point taken ..... it's just that 80 out of over 400 members to me is not acceptable, its just plain slack.monzared wrote:Guys, I don't think we should get down about losing an event because of numbers. ####, really tried to get there but helas.
Sounds like you guys had lots of fun. Went joilling on friday, left the car at work. When getting home after picking my
car up at 01h00, like trying to be as quiet as possible getting home not to awaken anyone the alarm syren continiously went on. The remote didn't work and evenutally got it shut off with the override plug under the steering wheel. Turned the alarm on and went inside. 2 Minutes later same thing, didn't turn the alarm on again. Saturday same thing, I was almost certain somebody had to have tampered with my car. Instead of the orange alarm light in the centre console flashing when the alarm was turned on it was now dead and once the car was started it lighted up, no flashing though. Disconnected the battery and let it be, wedding time...
Sunday, inspected the car to see if there was any tampering done. Couldn't find anything. Very eratic behavior, alarm goes of continiously. Went through all the fuses, actually removed the whole fusebox to check all the wires and connections still no luck. Then removed the alarm light itself and noticed it was all wet on the circuit board. Dried it up, reconnected the battery and all was back to normal but too late to go to Gerotec and there was no way in #### I was coming there in my wife's car (Opel Kadett 200is 8v). Suspect some dash spry must have gone through to the other side.
Well can't wait to see some pics of you guys holding onto your brass balls. :O
Sure wish I could have been there, only conselation now is to wait for next year
