I recently had a good rice with my cuz's brand new second hand 1991 Cti.(my car = 1993 Nissan Sentra 160 GX with brospeed freeflow boxes. NO branch YET)) Paid a fair price for a 91 Golf tho'!!! So out of the five runs , i was ahead on only ONE.
In all fairness my Sentra is 1004kgs, the CTi 875kgs
Sentra power= 73kw carb fed 16V 1600
Cti power == 82 kw FI 1800.( car also full brospeed branch and xhaust.

Top end was a good one, with just about one car lenght b/w us at about 190kms. But on 2nd and 3rd the Cti is about 3cars in front.

Pretty impressed wit my 1600 Japtec!!!!! :D :D ???

Not bad 007, not forgetting your car has a DOHC head with 16 valves, although carb-fed, still very impressive

You say the CTi's 3 car lengths ahead of you at the top of 3rd gear, which is about 400m, right? That's quite s substantial gap. Over which distance was the first five 'races'?

And top-end runs are hardly the forte of any Mk1 Golf, unless it has a very large fan in the exhaust... At about 180km/h, the brick-like construction and subsequent lack of aerodynamics becomes rather obvious

The first 2 rices was up a hill , which the Cti pulled a 2 car gap in 2nd gear ( +/- 15 to 20 m ) BUt there after on the flat road , he pulls about a 2 car gap in 2nd and then in third another 1 car (thus 3 car lenghts in total).

The last run was third gear from about 100km/h to about 180, there only did i edge out a little gap!!

Same cuz also owns a 200GXi, ...thats in a class of its own :D :D

yes, your absolutely right.
It is in it's class of its own.

It can't keep up to any 2.0L out there, Especially the VW's and PUG's!
