Here's the question... I have a Puma in my backyard (in running condition) If this sounds strange then have a look at S.A Puma owners site for details and info... Now would this car be close enough to a VW to be eligable for points to the VW club in the competition? (Engine/gearbox/chassis/suspention all VW)

Mine is running a 1600 beetle engine (slightly modded) and runs really nice. I've been trying to sell it as of late but if I'm able to contribute points I see no reason why I shouldn't keep it.

Could the committee members maybe shed some light on this...
I would like to apologize to anyone I have NOT offended.
Please be patient.
I will get to you shortly...

Umm... Nope.

Unfortunately, these cars weren't built by VW. The rules are pretty strict on that. Motor AND body built by VW Factory. If not, then we should also allow a 2.016V golf motor in a go-kart to compete as a VW. Simply can't do that. We have to draw the line somewhere. Even beach buggies don't compete as VW's AFAIK, even though the entire drive-train and chassis is VW.

Shouldn't stop you from bringing it to all the events to come have fun though....

Cheers!

####! Well I'll finish it up and bring it to the meetings etc. Play around with it a bit. Then sell it off and try to get myself a Mk1 again...

For interest's sake.. Will a 2.0 16V Turbo fit into that thing? Does it use the std beetle engine config.?

Just curious, because that thing can't weigh very much...

Yes it uses the standard beetle config. I believe from that site there is a page of a guy who upgraded the front suspention with a jetta's. Then went 2.0 16V. Here's the link GTI in Puma PictureI'd personally go for the 2.0 (flat) Combi engine and go from there... I've got a 1600 with a 36 Downdraught and it barely fits in height wise. I've seen some combi engines with Turbos... But the way people seem to fit the turbo wuld make it way to hight to fit in. Yup it weighs almost nothing...

Bio-Surge, I read an article in the new S&S about the upcoming Bugfest. Apparently there's also a class for kit cars with VW motors. Why dont you enter the Puma?
