Love these thread.

Uno 1.4 clocked 311 000km before rebuild and after that motor did 120 000km and currently sitting at over 420 000km doing hard labour duties and serviced on time. It is currently getting a head refresh and other work.

Merc W202 C240 with V6 motor was sold at 400 000km with not much issues.
Merc W202 C180 sitting on 360 000km -needs a motor rebuild, cluster is dead, needs shocks and brakes all round and this car sadly was neglected and hardly serviced.
Merc W204- C180 240 00km with one mechanical failure of steering rack issue
I know of 3 Nissan Tiida's sitting at 250 000/ 360 000 & 380 000km and going strong.
Mazda 2 got written off at 220 000km and was still going strong
Polo Playa 1.6 clocked 370 000km- engine and gearbox was still healthy, just needed new spray job and some suspension work.
Auris 1.3 ticked over to 210 000km and still going strong
Toyota Corolla E120 ticked over to 520 000km and still going strong.

How long is a piece of string? There is wayyyyyy too many variables to determine.

I still have the Jetta's original speedo that I removed years ago after the motor decided that having four conrods was an issue and only needed three of them.

1600 carb motor had 502 373km on it at the time, and used a bit of oil, had a very slight knock (hence conrod saying goodbye at 5000rpm), but ran nicely up until the kaboom moment.
Speedo sans needle:

Edited to add:

It was serviced every 10 000km using only GUD oil filters and Shell Helix oil since new.
Got driven hard many times (even flat out for about an hour before dawn one time many many years ago through the Free State on the way to Durbs - it did overheat a bit but nothing serious), clutch was replaced twice and gearbox oil was changed about three or four times before the motor popped.

As Le Clue said, piece of string.

Quite a long string you have there

My old man went to Israel a few years ago and there they use TDI Jettas for taxis. Aparently they only need work on the gearboxes, the motors just go on and on. They also don't service them all that regularly.

My Polo has a noisy fifth gear when coasting in gear, especially when cold. So I believe this theory above.

Nowhere close.

My 5 year old G7 TSi just went in for repairs, smoking, high oil consumption (like really really high).

Started misfiring so I had to send it in.

My 2013 MK7 TSI 1.4 Highline, turbo popped on 55000, New was did hold till I sold it on 178000

Was starting to have that crazy oil consumption and smoking on hard acceleration. But that's a problem with all this models, it's a matter of when
