Need to replace the shocks on my car. I phoned around and looks like I will have to settle for the Gabriel or Armstrong gas shocks.

I was told Gabriel and Armstrong are the same, just the name that differs. They cost the same price but are they indeed the same? Was under the impression Gabriel was better?

Hi Fred, I would rather go with the Gabriel shocks, dunno about there in JHB, but here in CPT the Armstrong is one of the Cheapest shocks, if not the cheapest. I do have it on my mk1 and it seems to be lasting, however, I fitted it on my mom's toyota, and I end up replacing them every 6-8 months. After fitting the Gabriels on my mom's car, no more problems.

I'm not sure about the Armstrong shocks, but Gabriels come with a 3 year, unlimited km gaurantee.

I had the shortened GasRyders fitted about a year ago and there has been a knocking sound coming from the front suspension for the past 3 months. So I took it to Supa-Quick, and they said it looks like it's the shocks, so they replaced them free-of-charge. Only thing I paid for was the wheel alignment.

Which area do you stay in Frederic and where are you gonna get the shocks fitted?

I stay in Allen's Nek, was thinking having it done at IQ accross the Hyperama. Think there is a Speedy or Supa Quick there asswell, not too sure.

I presume you mean Hi-Q and not IQ? :p

I've never had any work done on my car at Speedy so I can't comment on them, but I've always gotten good service and prices from Supa-Quick and Hi-Q. :;):
