Mic
Hi this is from my own experience doing such a conversion about a year ago ,using a Domingos.
1.Fuel tank ,fuel lines and FI pump from a GTi. +/- R1500
2.Polo cylinder head. +/- R1000
3.Polo inlet manifold with fuel rail and injectors +/- R750
4.Distrubutor with no mechanical advance. +/-750
5.Progammable ECU from R2500 (Domingos) to R4000?(MIC)
6.Laptop to program ECU
These are only the biggest costs involved and are rough estimates. I am not too up to date with the prices of the ECU's and and I am sure you can source some the parts for cheaper if you are patient.
Also bear in mind that there is also some hidden expense in buying new gaskets, filters, fuel hose, relays, brackets, wiring and plugs and also the time spent on the dyno to sort out the mapping.

That is about what you need.
But the pricing on those items are a bit high, if you want to source the polo stuff, drop me a mail I have a contact for you.
rabbit16v@connectit.co.za
I also can get a MIC with new harnas, new sensors, coms cable to PC and a coil amp all for R2800
There is a nother option, to use the current head, and just addapt a intake manifold to hold the injectors, that way you dont need a new head and you don't even need to open the motor. Like this one

Hi there Rabbit, looking @ that pic you posted, is there any way that you can make-up a fuel rail with injectors to go into a sidedraft intake and use the existing side to work as throttle bodies? I realise this might sound silly, but is it possible?

I've heard of this being done.. Keep in mind, then you are gonna need a throttle position sensor, and some form of management. Normal EC should be sufficient...gambit wrote:Hi there Rabbit, looking @ that pic you posted, is there any way that you can make-up a fuel rail with injectors to go into a sidedraft intake and use the existing side to work as throttle bodies? Yup. It's very possible - got one like that at home It's going onto my car soon. I'll take some pics tonight, or at the latest over the weekend, and post them here.gambit wrote:Hi there Rabbit, looking @ that pic you posted, is there any way that you can make-up a fuel rail with injectors to go into a sidedraft intake and use the existing side to work as throttle bodies? Yes, Ian - drives a red scirroco in the club, uses old sidies as throttle bodies, you can swop venturies to optimize airspeed.
And a added bonus is that ramtubes is available for sidies, there is also allot of filters that will fit them.
They work 100% the same as expensive throttle bodies, but are 1/4 of the price.
You can addapt any intake to hold injectors, all that is needed is for the injectors to spray in the airstream.
Here is a link to some usefull articles:

Building a fuel rail
