Ok, how do I turn the idle up on the Keihin carb? I would have attacked with a screwdriver, but I was worried Id start turning some screw which would end up being CO's or something.

Whats a 'better' upgrade carb to replace the Keihin? 32/36 Downdraught? Is there any benefits in fitting it? Revs cleaner, maybe pulls better?

The idle screw is the srew that pushes against your petrol cable attach. Its a 8mm socket / spanner or a chubby phillips driver.

Does this screw have a hex-head (like a nut) or does is it just have a normal screw head? If it's a hex-head and is near the throttle cable attach, then it's the idle adjustment screw. If it's a screw with a normal head and it's a bit lower down on the carb then it is the idle mixture adjustment.

Both the screws are near the firewall, but the head of the idle adjustment screw faces directly towards the firewall, whereas the head of the idle mixture adjustment screw faces diagonally towards the left, rear of the car (looking at the carb from the front).

This is the best I can describe it, hope it helps. :p :;):

Well, a hex-head screw would be one that you can turn with a spanner. :;):

Yep, that would be the idle adjustment screw.

The 32/36 downdraft would perform alot better, but it is a helluva lot more heavier on juice.
I would rather stick with the Keihin carb, if you want more performance, get the 1600/1800 sport Keihin carb...

No it gives no problems, i am using a 1986 model carb and works like a charm after i dissected and cleaned out all the gunk of course.

This is on a 2.0l engine. All I need is to know where all the pipes have to go really (I forgot) and from the brake booster pipe there are two nipples where do they get connected? I blocked em off for now.

Reading this thread regarding carb... How does the WAG from Goldwagen perform over the original Keihin...

How reliable is the WAG and who has some feedback regarding this particular carb...

I have a 1300 Citi Golf and it might need a new carb...so looking at options...

Is a factory Keihin standard available from VW agents... ?

Took the car to my local mechanic...He sorted original carb...basically it was just a dirty carb... I expected the worst but in the end very happy that the original carb is all good... 1992 model 1300 with 136 000km on the clock... she now runs like a dream
