is it ok to just remove the thermostat completely in my Golf1.4i??
its not like its ever going to freeze in Johannesburg... I'm have some overheating issues and I dont think the fan comes on soon enough...
I literally have to top up with water every 3 days and I cannot see any leaks or hear steam escaping!!! Also no foaming oil.

Re: Golf mk1 remove thermostat
So you're removing the thermostat without diagnosing what the exact issue is? That seems... Sketch

Re: Golf mk1 remove thermostat
No! It's a 2 stage thermostat and without it installed and working the coolant doesn't flow through the radiator at all. Engine will run hot and cause more damage.buttle wrote:is it ok to just remove the thermostat completely in my Golf1.4i??

Removing the thermostat in any car is a bad idea, not matter where you live or what the climate is, rather get some help to diagnose the root cause of the issue.

Re: Golf mk1 remove thermostat
There is a reason why engineers designed for a thermostat to be part of an engine and cooling system.
You need to diagnose the overheating issue and fix it.
