Don't add soluble oil to the coolant in a Jetta 4

Post by Johan Jetta 4 »

I made the mistake of adding soluble oil to the coolant - had some rust in the coolant. Immediate result - water level sensor in the pressure bottle stopped working. I am now flushing the cooling system for the fourth time so that I get rid of the last of the soluble oil. The sensor works for a while after each flush until it gets oil on the probes and I suppose this problem will only go away once the system is completely clear of the oil.

Stay with red anti-freeze.

I normally stick with just anti-freeze and changing it every 2 years or sooner
