Touran - Door not registering as closed

Sup guys,

Got an issue with the wife's Touran. The front door is not registering as closed. Not really a problem while driving but when parked the car does lock with the remote. I can lock the front door with the key but the other doors remain open.

So, question. Is the sensor in the door lock the most probable failure? Means I gotta change out the door lock right?

Any tips here?

You will need a new door lock. Common problem with Mk5/6 gen cars (05-15)
I’d suggest get another door lock ASAP they also tend to dead lock so no access from the inside or outside.PIA to open it again.

Got quotes of R5k for the lock. That's a lot steeper than what I had anticipated!

Is this the same lock used on the same generation of Golfs/Polos? I want to start checking with scrap yards.

Thanks Senna. Stumbled on his ad on Gumtree but didn't think to check about exchange. I will drop him a message and see what happens. Bit worried about pulling the trim off (or more specifically, worried about breaking something).

I stripped the boot not too long ago and it was painful hearing all those pops. Broke a clip or two as well. But the wife doesn't see the boot. The drivers door of her car is a bit harder to hide Wish me luck!

Guys, need help (again).

I tried disconnecting the battery to see if that works. No luck! Still the same situation.

However, now I have an ESC warning on the display. How do I clear this error?

Do you also have an orange steering wheel icon on the dash?

If so take the car for a short drive and all the errors will go away.

Looks like I'll have to take the door panel off now. Was really hoping to avoid that.

It is not that difficult. Watch some YT clips on the removal of the door card. Just take your time and be methodical. The microswitch is likely warn / clogged up. They are cheap and relatively easy to replace. Check my thread on my TReg, where I did this fix. I managed to buy replacement switches from a guy who does the repairs to the locks. They are available on eBay for cheap as well. If just the microswitch, you don't have to replace the whole mechanism.
