Lockset for Bluemotion

What should a lockset for a 2012 Polo 1.2tdi Bluemotion which cost R16800 plus R1235 for fitting consist of? Is it possible to still start and drive the car with the old key if the lockset was changed? Shortly after receiving the vehicle back the engine light came on then the DPF ligt and lastly the glowplug ligth with it coming on the turbo does not kick in any more. Is it possible to obtain the ECU history to establish if it was actually changed?
