MP9 1.8 Caddy

Post by Ettos »

OMG this Caddy is giving me problems. Sorted the injectors problem, now it idles without the Map Sensor and I know it shouldn't do that. Lots of white smoke coming from breather pipe and exhaust. The smoking starts when bakkie is at temperature. Is there maybe lots of old oil in my exhaust system or what can be a quick fix. Buyers are lining up for it now it makes this ****.

White smoke generally means the motor is burning coolant.
Head gasket is the most common cause.
Heat exchanger above the oil filter is another culprit.

Or it could be worse, like a cracked block/head.

Does the white smoke have a sweetish smell? If yes, coolant is being burnt.

or it can be something simple like a leaky brake master and it has filled up the vacuum booster and is sucking brake fluid into the motor.

@Jetta2 I haven't taste the smoke lol. Can't be Head Gasket or Head as it were skimmed and gasket is new. @Panic why is it idling without Map sensor and how do I fix/check for brake master cylinder suction.

Remove vacuum line to brake booster and block off hole on intake and check is white smoke stops. Then you will know if it is from brake fluid in booster. If smoke stops, remove booster and master cylinder and check if master cylinder is leaking through on seals into booster. When you pump the brakes during idle, does revs change?
