1100 mk1 forward laying engine timing settings?
does anyone here know the timing settings of the 1976-1978 mk1 5door rabbit golfs with the forward laying engine and the distributor that is on the right side of the head?

Start at 8Deg and advance in small increments in between drives. See where it performs best without pinging and keep it there. If you want to have a little safety retard the timing 2 deg from its peak.
Depending on all the various factors you could end up at around 12deg advance.
Just takes a little trial and error to get the optimal setting.
