2E unable to give enough oil pressure

Post by rodriguesbeast »

What's up guys.

So my project of a few years is standing still and I'm frustrated to the end.

Details;
2E Block bored bigger
BMW Pistons
X-Flow Head (Flowed, Ported, Bigger Valves, Imported Parts, etc)
Toyota RXI Throttles
C/R planned under 12
Crank, Flywheel lightened

My mechanics can't find the issue and the engineers could not find a issue on the head or block.

Fixes tried;
Check squirters in block - No squirters in block
Replace Oil Pump - The 4th one currently
Check clearances - 2 Engineers checked and all looks good
Check for cracks on block - Unable to find any to the eye issues

Anybody have any suggestions?

It's easy to probably buy a other block but don't want to spend money on block and engineers to bore bigger then the issue is again there. :fear:

Is there a company in Cape Town who can scan/x-ray a block to see if there is cracks or blocked oil feeders?

Getting oil pressure yes.

Idle under 1Bar
Reving under 3Bar

Tested at the oil filter

Can hear the tappets making a noise

Are you running solid lifters or hydraulic lifters

Put a restriction in the feed hole to the cylinder head. Like down to a 1 mm hole.

Higher oil pressure in the bottom end. We basically hit a jet or a copper bar into the block feed hole to thenhead and drill it to size.

Elementary my dear watson. Pressure in the head drops, which you don't need that much off seeing you are running solid lifters anyway. Pressure in the block will climb as that is something you seem to be worried about.
No long term issue. Have run many many many many vw challenge race cars like that.

My last hope mechanic found the issue we hope.

In the distributor hole, there is a washer/restrictor/bush, that thing is missing.

Anybody have a spare one for me perhaps?
Anybody know the part number maybe

Are you talking about the bush that sits in the block surrounding the oil pump shaft?

GW should be able to supply this.

Thanks guys for the info.
The issue was that bush which was not in the distributor hole. That bush is R100 but it's costing me already loads of money to find the issue.
Hope someone sees this post in future when they don't get oil pressure and just check this.
