Auto wipers on a 2012 Tiguan

Post by Stefan0909 »

Howzit guys,

I need help, my Auto Wipe function on my car is not working at all.

I tested it with the stalk on the right with one click up and the shifter to the far right hand side and not working at all.

My auto lights is working perfect, assuming that they both have the same sensor or so. It also has the auto dim rear view mirror.

I checked and it does have a sensor and the adaptive lights sensor as well.

How else can I test to see if the sensor is buggered?

When we connected the VCDS no errors what so ever.

Any ideas please can help

I don't think auto wipe and auto lights use the same sensor, as picking up rain and light are somewhat different. I remember my ex wife's Tiguan had auto wipers but not auto lights while my Golf has both.

They both in the same housing or not? I have noticed that the windscreen was replaced by the previous owner, and can it be that the rain sensor was not connected or damaged?

Yeah, should be in the same housing but I remember my sensor looks very different from my ex-wife's Tiguans. If the windscreen was replaced it could be possible the sensor was damaged or not reconnected.

Just an update:

So my Tiguan Aircon Pump was dead, took it to the dealer and the paid repair costs.

Now the aircon works better than a prossie in Sutherland on a Winter morning... :)

I have noticed, since the aircon pump was replaced, the auto wipers all of sudden started working as well... Can there be a link between the two?

i cannot in any way shape or form think how an aircon pump can link to auto wipers. maybe my imagination is just too short.

They probably found something unplugged and plugged it back in thinking they had unplugged in  Myself and JvR did this on my Audi A4 when we couldn't communicate with the engine ECU.
